What are your thoughts on the horror games that were recently released or about to be released? I watched some gameplay of Dead by Daylight and after about ten minutes decided that this game looked terrible.

The main problem seemed to be balancing issues. I’m guessing that the Friday the 13th game is going to have similar problems. Games like Alien Isolation and Outlast did a good job of transitioning horror elements into gameplay but I don’t think slasher games work as well. How would you design these games so both sides have fun?

  2. My big recommend for these asymmetrical multiplayer horror games is to give the final girl/guy some advantages to remain true to the genre. It would be fun if the flow of gameplay somehow captured the discovery of bodies leading to the final confrontation. Tough bill, though.
