  • Duncan and Bo Come Correct Episode 3: Buddies! - Here we are again, faithful listeners, with another round of the greatest battle humanity has yet known.  On the one side, Duncan MacLeish, hailing from Scotland, and avid viewer of cinema.  On the other, Bo Ransdell, American and defender of the freedom to eat a triple cheeseburger with a fork made from an Uzi. This […]
  • Duncan and Bo Come Correct Episode 4: Auteur-o-Rama! - We have been remiss in getting you, our dear droogs, a new episode.  I, Bo, take full responsibility for that in that it has taken more time to edit this episode.  BUT, this episode is about twice as long as usual, so don’t be so huffy.  In Episode Four, a TIEBREAKER episode, we discuss two […]
  • Duncan and Bo Come Correct: Episode 5; Power! - The score is 3-2, Duncan.  Waylaying Bo with the excellent A Field in England, Duncan pulls ahead and has come most correct over four episodes.  Back against the wall, can Bo tie it up or will Scotland’s favorite son widen the gap?  This episode reveals all! • November 4, 2008 – 1:51 PM Hey Donna! You know how much I love gear talk, so I’m here to offer my thoughts on your rememcondations.Soundsoap: I’ve worked with Soundsoap on both PCs and Mac and my experience is that works better (by an order of magnitude) on Macs.Lapel vs. table-top mics: I have taken to recommending that client-site recording sessions for professional purposes be done using lapel (lavalier) microphones. People who are inexperienced speaking to a microphone will find it much more relaxing to be able to adjust their seating position without having to sit awkwardly to accommodate the microphone. My experience is that the Edirol R1 still boasts one of the best audio-to-digital converters which results in a great recordings in its class (H2, H4, Microtrack). It’s a shame that it’s no longer manufactured. If you ever decide to part with yours, let me know.As always, I HIGHLY recommend against editing out uhms and ahhs unless they are excessive. That is, leave them alone unless the speaker uses them two or three times (or more) in 10 seconds or less. If that’s the case, I recommend cutting out one out of every three or four uhms. Cutting them all out misrepresents the speaker and most of the English speaking world. It comes across as robotic and unnatural and that’s about as hard to listen to as too many. Also, inexperienced editors may chop out breaths which is the worst thing you can do to an audio recording and your audience. It was great to have another Trafcom News podcast show up. See you at PodCamp Toronto and PAB2009???
